Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation Launches #FreshStart2020Grads Campaign to Celebrate Scholar Graduates
Nine Scholar Grads from Delaware Technical Community College, Goldey-Beacom College, Wesley College, and Wilmington University Recognized

Wilmington, Del. (May 28, 2020) – Each year in June Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation (“Fresh Start”) recognizes scholarship recipients who have graduated from their college or university degree programs. Due to COVID-19, this year’s celebration was postponed and will be held on October 15, 2020, during the foundation’s signature fundraising event Rising Stars. Founder Mary Maloney and members of the Board of Directors felt the nine scholar graduates should receive their well-deserved recognition now, and the idea for #FreshStart2020Grads was born.

Fresh Start Scholar Grads are unique. They are nontraditional female students that have faced obstacles along the road to obtaining a college degree. The #FreshStart2020Grads campaign celebrates their achievement, but also honors the perseverance and determination it took to obtain their goal in light of these obstacles and the unexpected challenges brought on by the pandemic. Each scholar graduate was gifted a personalized graduation yard sign with their name and college/university.

Congratulations #FreshStart2020Grads! (click here to view their picture)

Michele Whetzel, Board Chair, stated, “We are so proud of our scholar graduates! They have worked so hard to get their degrees. Most of them are mothers who have shown their children the importance of hard work in making a better life for themselves. Even with all we are going through right now in our state and country, there is never a better time to invest in a woman’s education.”

The #FreshStart2020Grads campaign is featured on our Facebook (@FreshStartScholarshipFoundation) and Instagram (@freshstartscholarship) channels, the foundation’s website (www.freshstartscholarship.com), and in the July issue of Delaware Today. Please follow our pages, like, and comment so our grads know just how special they truly are!

The Fresh Start 2020-2021 scholarship recipients will be announced later this summer. We anticipate awarding over 40 scholarships to deserving Delaware women. If you know someone seeking to improve their life through a college education, visit www.freshstartscholarship.org to review the eligibility criteria. We will re-open the application for the 2021-2022 season in late August/early September. Proceeds from the October 15 Rising Stars event will benefit scholarships for future Delaware women in financial need.

About Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation
